Design process in science

Today in science we had to make a structure that was safe and stable to protect an egg from falling
here are some examples. The first step you have to draw your what you are going to need to do.  Mme gave us certain materials a paper bag, some Popsicle sticks and other stuff and we had to explain why we designed it that way using the words stable and foundation.

Once everyone had completed their designs, we went into the stairwell and drop from the 3rd, 6th and 12th step.   The eggs that survived went to the top level.  Only ONE project designed a stable and safe place for the egg.  What an amazing time.

Hero's and Numbers!

Today, in French we are learning about hero's in are life.  Mine and Bailee's heros are: Bailee, "My dog Nala is my hero." Vaughn, "My mom and dad are my hero's.

Our class is sharing about their hero's:

Were representing numbers on the IPADS! Vaughn's group is representing 489. Bailee's group is representing 742.  We are taking pictures of different ways to represent the number with base 10 blocks, then we have to describe it and put it all together in Book Creator.  Stay tuned to see what we have created!

WE GOT IPADS!!!

We learned about man made structures and natural structures. We also went on a QR code scavenger hunt with the IPads. Yesterday we made mystery number QR codes, the notes gave us clues to the mystery number and then we scanned the QR code with the iPads to find the answers.

This week at school....

Today, we had a "mystery Skype" with Mrs Morhart's grade 3 class from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.  We had to try to find out where they were from.  To find out where they lived we had to ask many questions and they would answer.  Also, they asked questions to find out where we lived.  They guessed where we live first.

Monday morning, we had a special visiter come to our class.  He is a ELF and his name is LOLO.  Every night, Lolo goes to Santa and tells him about our days in school.  Every morning, LOLO is in a different spot and, leaves us a note and is usually doing something funny.   Yesterday, he was throwing "SNOWBALLS" (marshmellows) in the room.  TODAY, he stole Mme's ipad and he made a video.. Here it is.

LOLO with the Snow balls!
Our school particiapated in "bag up Manitoba" and we placed second for collecting the most plastic bags.  Because we were the second school, we WON a bench.  We are very proud to be a part of this great and amazing school.

Peace Feels like.....

Remembrance Day is time to reflect and thank those that have fought for our freedom.  Both our class and Mme Schick's class read the book What does Peace Feel Like? wriiten by V Radunsky.  We created our own visions of what peace sounds like, feels like and looks like.

Enjoy our presentation!
